Mik Turje is a registered social worker, with a background in community health and development. They hold a Master of Social work from the University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Victoria, where they also studied gender and sexuality.
Mik has over a decade’s experience working with communities to find solutions to social isolation, poverty, food insecurity, substance use and mental health issues. They weave these diverse life experiences into their role as a counsellor, and ground their work in intersectional feminism, queer theory, trauma awareness, client-centred, and strengths-based frameworks.
Mik divides their time between working as a counsellor in 1:1 practice, working as a social worker in healthcare, and backpacking and hiking in the mountains of BC.
Mik is trans and nonbinary, and their pronouns are they/them/theirs.
