Kim Zombik, a vocalist and poet, is also a teacher certified in both Kripalu and Iyengar-inspired Yoga. After obtaining her first teaching certificate from Kripalu Center in 2007, she began to teach. Once arriving in Montreal in 2008, she completed over 500 hours of training with Hart Lazer at United Yoga Montreal, with an emphasis on yoga therapeutics, training in Restorative and Yin yoga with Marie- Daphnée Roy, Trauma-Informed yoga and meditation with Yoga Behind Bars, and Level 1 and 2 of Somatic Experiencing.
Kim now is pursuing studies in Integrative Restoration iRest Yoga Nidra Meditation with Richard Miller.
Kim’s practice of meditation is based in Buddhist teachings, as well as non-dual teachings of iRest Yoga Nidra. The practice of meditation was very challenging for Kim, until she understood the deep necessity to approach the practice in a fully trauma aware way. Her path of healing developmental PTSD has required that she learn to work with dissociation, better understand the “false window of tolerance”, and somatically cultivate self-compassion and gentleness.
A quote that perpetually inspires Kim is “Gentleness is not a luxury. It is a critical requirement for coming to our senses.” (John Kabat Zinn). She weaves this understanding into her teaching.
