Resilience Psychotherapy: A Brand Story of Healing, Growth, and Compassion
Founded in 2019 by Dr. Rami Nijjar, Resilience Psychotherapy emerged from a deep understanding of the human experience and a profound commitment to fostering growth and healing. After a decade of studying attachment, relationships, and mental health, and working with a wide range of clinical populations—including individuals facing sexual pain and low desire, prostate cancer, chronic pain, eating disorders, mood disorders, relationship challenges, OCD, ADHD and Autism—Dr. Nijjar identified a common thread running through these diverse experiences: histories of stressful life events, interpersonal challenges, and trauma. Whether rooted in intergenerational patterns or oppression-based harm, these factors shape how people perceive and interact with themselves and the world.
A Journey Rooted in Wisdom
Dr. Nijjar’s path to founding Resilience Psychotherapy began long before her academic and clinical accomplishments. From childhood, she was introduced to meditation within her family and Sikh community, an experience that planted the seeds of mindfulness in her life. Through her adolescence and young adulthood, she expanded her understanding of contemplative practices, studying techniques like Vipassana, Metta meditation, and yoga sciences.
This personal journey came full circle when, after earning her PhD, Dr. Nijjar began formally integrating these practices into her professional work. Training with the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), she collaborated with trans colleagues to develop specialized programming for the trans community. This groundbreaking programming was first offered at the Stanford University Student Association in 2019. Dr. Nijjar has since continued to develop tailored interventions for diverse populations, using mindfulness and self-compassion as tools for meaningful change.
In 2022, Dr. Nijjar and her team worked closely with the faculty of Concordia University to improve the wellbeing of its members. This collaboration marked the beginning of a broader initiative to address workplace stress and promote innovation and resilience. Since then, Resilience Psychotherapy has partnered with corporations, educators, and healthcare authorities to enhance workplace wellbeing, reduce stress, and support sustainable growth in professional environments.
Building Resilience Together
What began as a training clinic—a space for Dr. Nijjar to pass on her expertise to students and trainees—has since evolved into a vibrant community of healing and growth. At Resilience Psychotherapy, individuals find more than therapy; they find a connection—to themselves, to others, and to a shared journey of resilience.
The clinic is built on the belief that healing happens at the intersection of evidence-based practices and mindful, compassionate care. Whether providing thorough, individualized assessments or offering therapies grounded in research and ancient wisdom, Resilience Psychotherapy is a space where people can confront life’s challenges and emerge stronger.
